FAQ SHEET
To help things run smoothly for you this year...
1. WHEN WILL THE FARM OPEN for 2024?

The BOOKING CALENDAR opened at 8pm on Monday 18th November for 2024. Farm visits to choose your our best tree ever' start on Friday 29th November. To ensure fairness we are strict with using the booking system. An account is necessary only to Change/Cancel your booking (see below #4). We are fully booked within a couple of days - so check your diary carefully prior to booking.

2. ELF 1, ELF 2, ELF3 ????
During the booking process you will be asked to choose who serves you: Elf 1, 2, 3, or 4 etc. Does not matter which Elf you select! It is a software issue that a service, i.e. a farm visit, cannot be scheduled without staff to serve people.

3. WHAT IF IT IS RAINING?

It is important to keep your appointment despite the rain because we expect you will have difficulty rescheduling.

4. WHAT IF I WANT TO CANCEL/CHANGE MY BOOKING?

To cancel or change a timeslot, importantly, you will need to create an account with login/password.
-
FIRST re-schedule by booking a new timeslot.
-
THEN you will be able to cancel your first appointment.
-
PLEASE cancel unwanted time slots so this will free up a time for someone else
-
IF you have difficulties, email us on info@sydneychristmastreefarm.com.au

5. HOW TO GET YOUR TREE HOME...

Ask yourself: Will my Christmas tree need to go on the roof of my car, or will it go in the boot? The tighter the tree is bunched, the less dehydration during the journey home. If on the roof, will you need ocky straps or rope to tie the tree to your car roof?
For an additional fee we will bag your tree in a tight net to make it more compact (see our 'Add ons' page). Or, why not bring your own protective sheet (a doona cover is really easy, or an old bed sheet, a plastic painting sheet, a tarp).

Bring a plastic bag to cover the cut end of the tree trunk because it will ooze sap a little bit (hand sanitizer seems to work well to remove it off your fingers).

6. ONCE HOME...

-
Immediately, place your tree into a bucket of water. Perhaps, even cut off 1 cm with a pruning saw just before erecting your tree, making sure to get the cut 'square'.
-
If you have a tree stand with clamps (like the Cinco stand), start first with the tree lying down outdoors (still with the netting on if you chose this option) and 'plug' the stand over the cut end of the tree trunk. Next, tighten the screws lightly before you swing the tree plus its stand vertical in one go. Take the tree inside the house to where you want it and fine tune the tightening of the screws to ensure you have a vertical tree and then remove the netting. Finally, fill the reservoir with water.
-
Ensure your Christmas tree is installed in a location protected from direct sunlight, drafts and drying air-conditioning.
-
IMPORTANT: Check the water in the tree stand or bucket every day for the first few days so you can judge the frequency replenishment is required thereafter. Trees can drink more than a litre in the first day! And sometimes pets drink the tree-water too!
-
Keep the water topped up because the mass of the water is in itself providing ballast to keep your tree more stable.
-
Take care if you have sand or soil in the bucket, because the bottom can dry out yet the top still looks moist, and your tree will die more quickly. Cinco stands are designed such that the reservoir needs nothing more than water to weight the tree down.
-
There are some commercial additives available to add to the water. But in our own naturally cool house we personally get good results with plain water.

7. WHAT METHODS OF PAYMENT ARE ACCEPTABLE?

Card or cash, we do not mind. We use the Square 'Tap n Go', and in recent times 99% of cards are accepted, including Amex.

8. DO WE SELL OTHER TIMES OF THE YEAR?

Outside our normal seasonal opening, we only supply for Christmas in July, religious periods, for businesses or pre-schools, etc. Ring Ron at Sydney Christmas Tree Farm on 9450 2027 and he will happily organise a time to suit (best time to ring him is 8am or 8pm).

9. DO WE DELIVER?

Deliveries may be possible within a very limited distance at additional cost on weekdays only.

10. SHOULD YOU BRING YOUR OWN SAW?

Definitely NO. We are only insured for staff to carry and use saws.
